DiMarzio DP198 Hot Minibucker Pickup One reason the first mini-humbuckers were relatively quiet pickups was the small space inside the cover for the coils and magnet. Louder mini-buckers can sound muddy, as if the sound itself were crowded inside the pickup. We wanted a hotter, thicker sound, but we also wanted the pickup to "speak" clearly. The DiMarzio® Hot Minibucker accomplishes this. It's both very warm and open-sounding, and 4-conductor wiring offers effective split and dual-sound options. DiMarzio DP111 SDS-1 Pickup It might look like a Strat guitar pickup, but the SDS-1 adds balls, gain and warmth reminiscent of the best old soapbar pickups. The adjustable pole pieces don't pull as hard as regular rod magnets, so you can get the pickup closer to the strings for stronger output. Yngwie Malmsteen adopted it for his standard neck and bridge pickup, and almost overnight the HS-3 acquired the reputation of being a high-powered metal pickup. This isn't really the case the HS-3 is actually a smooth and relatively quiet pickup that produces a sweet overdrive tone without jagged edges.
